“You savor it, you do, and then you gorge yourself on it. And then, you savor the longing for the next one. Your favorite part of a season is still the beginning, but now that you are older, you know how to love the yearning at the end.”

Stephanie, every bit of this resonates with me! You’ve said it so well. You’ve just encapsulated my feelings of joy about the microseasons. If the beginning and the end of the season are the best parts, I like to be able to enjoy some small seasonal shift every five days.

Ann, I'm so glad this resonated with you! These shifts are full of meaning and pleasure, for sure. Where I live though, this spring has seemed to have a seasonal shift every two days which might be just a little much for me! Thanks for your comment 😊

Exquisite, Stephanie. You capture so much of what I feel with the change of the season, as well as the appreciation of the present, despite how the past and future try to tug us away from that constantly.

Constantly! I'm a terrible meditator but the interpretation that has worked best for me is that the meditation is in the moment of redirecting attention back to the present each time you find you're out of it -- not necessarily "staying in" the present without deviating from it, which, I think, is impossible!

Yes, I'm much the same. Meditation is about finding that awareness and learning to recognise it and through practice being able to do that throughout the day. As you say, staying within that it nigh-impossible, but being able to recognise becoming distracted by thought is part of the practice.
