This is awesome, I'm definitely hooked. Even in such a small piece I'm pulled in by this group dynamic that rules everything. You can feel the weight of the characters decisions already. Would be very keen to read more!
I'm so glad to know you enjoyed it! This genre is new territory for me - I had the kernel of an idea one day last summer and wanted to see where it led. I will keep following it!
I like the drip-feed of information here, Stephanie. I'm intrigued as to what has happened to the society of this story.
This line in particular was very evocative of that mystery: "They kept us safe, fed, a biotic moving shelter in the dark night that had fallen upon the world."
Very intriguing.
Thanks, Terry!
Really enjoyed this, Stephanie. It reminded me, in tone, of Death of Grass by John Christopher. Looking forward to reading what comes next 👍🏼
I will have to check out Death of Grass! Thanks, Daniel!

Exploring new genres is always so much fun. Definitely keep going with it, even if it's just to exercise your style. Keen to read more!!
